ILOILO CITY - Students in this part of the country were advised to see to it that the course they plan to enroll in this school year has government authority, permit or recognition.
“For their safety, students should check if the programs or courses of study they plan to enroll in this opening of classes have permits from CHED to avoid problems in the future,” said Commission on Higher Education Chief Education Program Specialist Dr. Rex Casiple.
He cited some cases where graduating students were not granted special order on time because the school failed to get a permit or recognition for the program they enrolled.
The certificate of permit issued by CHED authorizes higher education institutions to offer courses or programs on a temporary basis as this is renewable every year, Casiple said.
CHED has required schools to post the copy of their certificates of permit for the programs they offer and certificates of recognition in conspicuous places in the schools’ premises so students and parents could see them.
The certificate of recognition is an authority being granted by CHED to the school to offer a course of study or program to ensure that the program fully meets the required standards. This is also a requirement when students take their board exams given by the Professional Regulation Commission or eligibility examination administered by the Civil Service Commission.
Parents or students are advised to report to CHED Regional Office VI schools in the region that are not complying with the said order of the Commission through telephone numbers 320-6976 or 508-8852.
