SM Baguio joins May 1 jobs fair

BAGUIO CITY - In line with the government’s goal of creating more jobs for the Filipino people, the biggest mall network , SM Supermalls will be celebrating Labor Day with a nationwide Jobs and Livelihood Fair on May 1 at its 41 malls around the country including SM Baguio.

 

“SM Malls, after all, have been a catalyst in creating employment and business opportunities in all areas where they are located, and the Job Fair is one way in which it can do its share for the community,” according to a press statement by SM.

According to Karren Padilla, SM Baguio Public Relations Officer, SM is taking part of the job fair in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment, the Public Employment Service Office, and the city government.

“The job fair aims to salute the Pinoy Working Force, and to help as many people as possible find employment,” Padilla said.

Padilla said that more than 20 tenants and concessionaires of SM Baguio have signified to put up their booths and offer jobs to unemployed and fresh graduates in Baguio City and nearby areas.

She added that staff from different companies and concessionaires will be ready to receive applicants and enlarge their work force.

The job fair will be opened from 10:00AM to 5:00PM at the lower ground floor of the mall. This is the fourth Nationwide Job Fair that the SM Supermalls has organized.

Meanwhile, the DOLE together with the other government agencies, Government Owned and Controlled Corporations and companies from the private sector will conduct a two-day job and livelihood fair on May 1 and 2 at the Baguio Convention Center. The DOLE is targeting more than 5,000 jobs to be filled for both local and overseas during the two-day event.
